HS-16 (for applications up to 2600 degrees Fahrenheit)

Silica Needled Mat (SNM):

Pre Shrunk Silica Needled Mat

Pyro Shield provides Silica Needled Mats in a variety of thicknesses (3mm to 25mm) and sizes. SNM is a 2000 degree Fahrenheit mat that can withstand higher temperatures for brief periods of time. SNM performs very well in high temperature markets such as the steel and aluminum market and is very safe to handle due to the large diameter fibers that are needled into a high tensil strength blanket. SNM is 96%, Silica Fiber and has a melting temperature of 3100 degrees Fahrenheit (printable MSDS and Datasheets offered).

The SNM is a superior thermal insulator for all types of high temperature applications such as, but not limited to the following:

  • Coil Cover Seals
  • Insulation Modules
  • Reusable, Temporary Covering
  • Battery Doors
  • Tundish Covers & Seals
  • Ladle Covers
  • Furnace Sealing
  • Port & Manhole Covers
  • Heat Pads For Workers
  • Process Valves
  • Furnace Seals
  • Trough Covering
  • Coke Batteries
  • Port Hole Sealing
  • Silica Boards
  • Rolling Mills Furnace Insulation
  • Furnace Gasketing
  • Scratch Protection
  • Glass Furnace, NO SHOT Insulation
  • Piping Insulation

ENM Insulation

Pyro Shield’s ENM is comprised of an assortment of long stable fibers randomly oriented into a uniform blanket. Applications include insulation matting for high temperature insulation blankets and sound suppression. Excellent for removable pads, power generating equipment, industrial furnaces, and piping. Resistant to most chemicals, offers thermal protection to temperatures up to 1200F. Pyro Shield E Glass Mat is composed of 100% elect grade type "E" glass fibers needled together into mat form. It is noncombustible, asbestos free, and contains no resinous or inorganic binders. Pyro Shield’s Glass Mat can be used on equipment operating at temperatures up to 1200 degree Fahrenheit and will not deteriorate or shake apart while in vibrating applications. Conforms to Mil. Spec. Mil-l-16411, Mil-l-24244, ASTM E-84. Smoke -O, Flame -O NRC -1.36.

HS-16 (Heat Stop): Pyro Shield has developed a ceramic mat and encapsulated it in silica fabric on both sides, encasing the fibers inside the weaved, stictched fabric.  HS-16 works great for slow cooling, PWHT, stress relieving, protection with gouging, and heavy welding applications.

Key industries currently benefiting from the use of HS-16:

  • Automotive
  • Aerospace
  • Manufacturing
  • Construction
  • Ship building/marine
  • Military and Defense
  • Forging and foundries
